Election Day
6 11 2007Yay it’s Election Day! weee… (twirls one finger in the air)![]()
Ok that’s about as excited as I’m going to get. I’m not in a good mood this morning.. sorry. What’s irritating me this morning you may ask? The candidates are. Wait.. let me take that back… the committees that are running the campaigns are.
Quick little story for you as to why I’m in a pissy mood. I get ready to get the kids off to school. Start my car to let it warm up for a few on this joyous 30 degree morning. Head out on the 2 minute drive. Hit the neighborhood where the school is located. Turn the corner… almost there… Get slammed in the face with 50 fucking political signs.
You know what?
I know it Election Day. I know that this day is meant for elections and getting the candidates name out there one more time before the hustle and bustle of getting these hard earning tax payers in to the polls to vote for people that don’t deserve a lot of what they are given. I know it’s a day to give our opinion on who should win in the polls. I know it’s a day… wait why am I bitching? I got today off from work. Oh yeah.. now I remember why I’m in this mood… because there’s 50+ fucking political signs in the fucking parking lot of my kids’ school!
Seriously how many signs does it take to get a name out there? Especially in a 25 fucking foot radius? Obviously according to the stats that these committees have, it takes… wait… think about it and guess… 1? 2? 3 at most? NO 10-12 PER FUCKING CANDIDATE! So there is literally 50+ signs in the parking lot of a school.
My kids asked me “Dad what are those signs for?” I told them it’s Election Day and those are the signs of idiots that seem to think that their name is better off being seen than your schools name.” “But Dad, is that why those machines were brought in yesterday?” I said “Yes they were. Those machines are for people to come to your school, which will now be totally open to the public all day, so that anyone can come in and vote.” “So the doors are not going to be locked like usual?” I said “More than likely not so I need you to watch out for people that don’t belong there. Ok?” “Ok Daddy we will.”
I seriously think that the polling should be taken out of the schools. With the way the world works today the last thing we need is for some irate political junkie that feels the needs to over voice his opinion in a school where kids don’t understand a damn thing that’s going on.
Ok I’m done with this rant I guess for now. Cya…

You mean the general population is going to be wandering around that school all day? When did they stop closing the school that was to be used for a day? I remember getting out of school all the time at Edgewood when it was election day, because they needed the gym.
That’s messed up. And I agree with you. It’s overkill. Then they bombard you at the door, handing out candy and clammy handshakes. I know; I’ve worked the polls before. Spent a day around a bunch of blowhards! LOL
